नमस्कार दोस्तों छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के कोरबा जिले के पाली क्षेत्र में स्थित है अति प्राचीन अलौकिक शिव मंदिर , जो अपनी अद्भुत, स्थापत्य कला एवं वास्तुशिल्प के लिए विश्व प्रसिद्ध हैं।
दोस्तों इस प्राचीन और अद्भुत मंदिर का निर्माण बाणवंशी शाशक विक्रमादित्य महाराज ने वर्ष 870 से 900 ई. के मध्य करवाया था। दोस्तों इस मंदिर का निर्माण लाल बलुआ पत्थर से किया गया है जो इसे अत्यंत आकर्षक बनाता है।
दोस्तों प्राचीन ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेजों से पता चलता है कि 11वीं व 12 वीं शताब्दी के मध्य कल्चुरी शाशक जाजल्यदेव प्रथम ने इस प्राचीन शिव मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार करवाया था, दोस्तों मंदिर परिसर में उत्खनन के दौरान पुरातत्व विभाग वालों को कुछ प्राचीन सिक्के एवं प्रतिमाएं प्राप्त हुई है जिसे संग्रहालय में सुरक्षित रख दिया गया है। ।
दोस्तों छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य में रतन पुर से कोरबा जाने वाले मार्ग में अवस्थित पाली एक छोटा सा कस्बा या फिर कहें तो एक छोटा सा बाजार है । दोस्तों इसी कस्बे के मध्य एक विशाल सरोवर के किनारे पाली का ऐतिहासिक व प्राचीन शिव मंदिर स्थित है। दोस्तों आपको जानकर आश्चर्य होगा कि भगवान शिव को समर्पित इस मंदिर के गर्भगृह में तीन अलौकिक शिवलिंग स्थापित है। साथ ही दोस्तों एक ऊंची स्थान पर बनी यह प्राचीन मंदिर गर्भगृह , अंतराल ,व मंडप में विभक्त है जो इस मंदिर के अद्भुत स्थापत्य कला को जिवंत बनाता है।
दोस्तों पूर्वाभिमुख इस प्राचीन मंदिर का मंडप अष्टकोणीय हैं। दोस्तों देखा जाए तो बस्तर के नारायणपाल के विष्णु मंदिर और पाली के इस शिव मन्दिर में काफी समानता दिखती हैं। दोस्तों जहां नारायणपाल के विष्णु मंदिर का मंडप चौकोर अष्टकोणीय हैं वहीं पाली के इस मंदिर का मंडप गोलाकार अष्टकोणीय हैं।
दोस्तों मंडप का शिखर पिरामिड की तरह है और यही अंदर की ओर गोलाकार खंडों में विभक्त है । दोस्तों इसके अंदर की दीवारों पर प्रसिद्ध पौराणिक कथाओं को अलंकृत किया गया है । साथ ही दोस्तों मंडप और गर्भगृह के द्वार पर भी बहुत ही सुंदर चित्रों को अलंकृत किया गया है जो देखने में बेहद खूबसूरत लगती हैं।
दोस्तों आप देखोगे कि मंदिर की बाहरी दीवारों पर बहुत ही खूबसूरत तरीके से विभिन्न देवी देवताओं , एवं श्रृंगार रस से ओतप्रोत नायक- नायिकाओं तथा विश्व प्रसिद्ध खजुराहो के मंदिरों की तरह कामसूत्र से संबंधित प्रतीमाओ को उकेरा गया है। दोस्तों अपने अद्भुत स्थापत्य शैली के कारण ही यह अतिप्राचीन मंदिर विश्व प्रसिद्ध।
