हंपी यानी विजयनगर सम्राज्य के सबसे बेहतरीन मंदिरों में सेे एक है विट्ठल स्वामी का मंदिर। विट्टलस्वामी मंदिर भगवान विष्णु का मंदिर है। यह हंपी के मंदिरों में अनूठा स्थान रखता है। यह हंपी के बाकी स्मारकों से थोड़ी दूर पूर्वोत्तर में पहाड़ी पर स्थित है। मंदिर जाने के रास्ते में सड़क पर एक चेक पोस्ट आता है, यह 16वीं सदी का ही बना हुआ है। ऐसे कई चेक पोस्ट विजय नगर सम्राज्य में बने हुए थे। यहां से गुजरने वालों लोगों के पहचान की जांच की जाती थी।
विट्ठल स्वामी का यह मंदिर अपनी अदभुत वास्तुकला, गोपुरम, पत्थर के विशाल रथ और सारेगामा स्तंभों के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। विट्ठल मंदिर तक जाने के लिए कच्चा इको फ्रेंडली रास्ता है। मंदिर ऊंची पहाड़ी पर स्थित है। रास्ते में पुराने बाजार की संरचना और कुछ हौज दिखाई देते हैं। मंदिर के बाहर एक विशाल रथ दिखाई देता है।
मंदिर का निर्माण- विट्ठल मंदिर का निर्माण देवराय द्वितीय के काल में 1422 से 1446 के मध्य हुआ। पूरब की ओर मुख्य द्वार वाले इस मंदिर को एक विशाल चबूतरे पर बनवाया गया है। हंपी के कई शिव मंदिरों के बीच यह विष्णु का मंदिर अपना अलग स्थान रखता है।
सारेगामा स्तंभ से सुनें संगीत - विट्ठल मंदिर परिसर में बाद में राजा कृष्णदेव राय द्वारा 1513 के आसपास यहां 100 खंबों वाले मंडप का निर्माण कराया गया। इन स्तंभों की खास बात है कि इनको ताड़ित करने पर संगीत की स्वर लहरियां सुनाई देती हैं। इन स्तंभों से तब की वैज्ञानिक तकनीक का पता चलता है जब पत्थरों से निकलते संगीत की रचना की गई होगी। कई लोग इसलिए इन स्तंभों को सारेगामा स्तंभ के नाम से भी जानते हैं।
यहां विजयनगर की मंदिर निर्माण शैली का उत्कर्ष दिखाई देता है। मंदिर के प्रवेश द्वार पर आपको गाइड मिलते हैं जो मंदिर कलात्मकता बारे में बताने की बात करते हैं। मंदिर परिसर में मुख्य गोपुरम से प्रवेश करने के बाद हमें कल्याण मंडप और उत्सव मंडप दिखाई देता है। मंदिर में प्रवेश के लिए कुल तीन गोपुरम बने हैं।
मंदिर में पत्थरों का बना विशाल रथ
विट्ठल स्वामी के मंदिर परिसर में पत्थरों का बना एक विशाल रथ भी आपको चकित करता है। ये रथ इस मंदिर का मुख्य आकर्षण है। किसी समय में इस रथ के पहियों को घुमाया भी जा सकता था, पर अब इसे संरक्षित रखने के लिए पहियों को सीमेंट से जाम कर दिया गया है। आते जाते लोगों के लिए रथ बड़े आकर्षण का केंद्र है। इसके निर्माण का शिल्प देखने लायक है। मंदिर के पास विशाल पुष्करिणी (तालाब) भी निर्मित किया गया है।

Hampi means one of the best temples of the Vijayanagara Empire is the temple of Vitthal Swamy. Vittalaswamy Temple is the temple of Lord Vishnu. It holds a unique place in the temples of Hampi. It is located on a hill in the northeast, slightly away from the rest of Hampi's monuments. On the way to the temple, a check post comes on the road, it remains from the 16th century. Many such check posts remained in the Vijay Nagar empire. The identities of the people passing through here were examined.
This temple of Vitthal Swami is famous for its marvelous architecture, gopurams, huge stone chariots and Saregama pillars. There is a raw eco friendly way to reach the Vitthal temple. The temple is situated on a high hill. The old market structure and some huts are visible on the way. A huge chariot appears outside the temple.
Construction of the temple- The Vitthal temple was built between 1422 to 1446 during the reign of Devaraya II. This temple with the main gate towards the east is built on a huge platform. This Vishnu temple has its own place among many Shiva temples in Hampi.
Listen to music from the Saregama Pillar - A 100-pillared pavilion was built here around 1513 by King Krishnadeva Raya in the Vitthal temple complex. The special thing of these pillars is that on listening to them, the sound of music is heard. These pillars reveal the scientific technique when the music emanating from the stones would have been composed. Many people therefore also know these pillars by the name of Saregama Pillar.
The climax of the temple construction style of Vijayanagar is seen here. At the entrance of the temple you find guides who talk about the artistry of the temple. After entering the temple complex from the main gopuram, we see the Kalyan Mandap and the Utsav Mandap. A total of three gopurams have been built to enter the temple.
The huge chariot of stones in the temple
A huge chariot made of stones in the temple complex of Vitthal Swamy also surprises you. This chariot is the main attraction of this temple. The wheels of this chariot could also be rotated at some time, but now the wheels have been jammed with cement to preserve it. The chariot is a center of great attraction for the visiting people. The craft of its construction is worth seeing. A huge Pushkarini (pond) has also been constructed near the temple.
