दोस्तों आज की यात्रा पर मैं आपको लेकर चल रहा हूं। एक ऐसे प्राचीन बावड़ी की यात्रा पर जो प्रेम , समर्पण और बलिदान का सबसे बड़ा प्रतिक है।
दोस्तों जब आप इस अद्भुत संरचना को देखोगे तो आश्चर्य किए बिना नहीं रह पाओगे, कि कैसे हमारे पूर्वजों ने इस अद्भुत संरचना का निर्माण किया होगा।वास्तव में दोस्तों इन संरचनाओं को देखकर आप सोचने पर मजबूर हो जाओगे कि हमारे पूर्वज वास्तुशिल्प में कितने निपुण रहे होंगे।
( निर्माण काल )
दोस्तों ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेजों से पता चलता है कि इस प्राचीन व अद्भुत पानी के बावड़ी का निर्माण 1498 ईस्वी में गुजरात के राजा राणा वीर सिंह की याद में उनकी धर्मपत्नी रानी रूदा देवी ने करवाया था।
दोस्तों गुजरात के अहमदाबाद में पानी का यह अदलज बावड़ी या रूदाबाई बावड़ी अपने पुरातन वास्तु शिल्प एवं अद्भुत सुंदरता के कारण पूरे विश्व में प्रसिद्ध है।दोस्तों आपको जानकर आश्चर्य होगा कि यह अद्भुत बावड़ी धरती के अंदर यानी गहराई में 5 मंजिल की बनी हुई है जो अपने आप में अद्भुत और अविश्वसनीय है।
दोस्तों यह बाबरी सन 1498 में पानी को जमा करने , बाहर से आने वाले यात्रियों एवं स्थानीय स्तर पर होने वाले शादी -विवाहों में आने वाले बारातियों को ठहराने की व्यवस्था यहीं पर होती थी। साथ ही दोस्तों आस-पास के गांव में होने वाले धार्मिक आयोजनों में भी इस बावड़ी का उपयोग लोगों को ठहराने के लिए किया जाता था।
दोस्तों माना जाता है कि राजा राणा वीर सिंह ने अपने राज्य के इस विराने सुस्त पड़े क्षेत्र में अपने प्रजा की कठिनाइयों को दूर करने के लिए ही इस अद्भुत पानी के बावड़ी का निर्माण शुरू करवाया था।क्योंकि दोस्तों इस क्षेत्र में रहने वाले निवासी पानी लाने के लिए मीलों पैदल जाया करते थे।
लेकिन दोस्तों आपको पता है कि यह बावड़ी राजा राणा वीर सिंह के जीवित रहते बन ही नहीं पाया था।क्योंकि वह आक्रमणकारी मुस्लिम शासक महमूद बेगड़ा के साथ हुए युद्ध में वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गए थे।
दोस्तों दंतकथा यह भी है कि आक्रमणकारी मुस्लिम शासक महमूद बेगड़ा , राजा राणा वीर सिंह की रानी रूदाबाई की रूप पर मोहित हो गया था और राणा वीर सिंह के युद्ध में मौत हो जाने के बाद उसने पूरे राज्य पर अपना कब्जा कर लिया था। और रानी रूदाबाई के सामने शादी का प्रस्ताव रख दिया था।
दोस्तों माना जाता है कि रानी रूदाबाई को पता था कि वह दुष्ट आक्रमणकारी उन्हें छोड़ने वाला नहीं है ।अतः रानी ने एक चाल चली जिसके परिणाम स्वरुप वह दुष्ट महमूद बेगड़ा से शादी के लिए तैयार हो गई।क्योंकि रानी रूदाबाई को महाराज के द्वारा छोड़े हुए अधूरे कार्य को पूरा करना था। यानी बावड़ी के निर्माण को पूरा करवाना था।जो महाराज राणा वीर सिंह के वीरगति को प्राप्त हो जाने के बाद अधूरा पड़ा हुआ था।
दोस्तों कहा जाता है कि क्रूर शासक महमूद बेगड़ा रानी की सुंदरता पर इतना मोहित था कि उसने रानी के इस प्रताप को भी स्वीकार कर लिया था कि रानी द्वारा उसके पति के द्वारा शुरू की गई बावड़ी का निर्माण पूरा करना है।
अतः दोस्तों यही कारण है कि बावड़ी का निर्माण प्रसिद्ध सोलंकी शैली की वास्तु शैली में की गई है और बावड़ी को हिंदू देवी देवताओं व जैन धर्मावलंबियों की मूर्तियों से अलंकृत किया गया है।
दोस्तों कहां जाता है कि बावड़ी का निर्माण कार्य पूरा हो जाने के बाद रानी रूदाबाई अपने पति महाराज राणा वीर सिंह की याद में बावड़ी के अंदर ही बने गहरे कुएं में कूदकर जान दे दी थी।यानी दोस्तों स्पष्ट होता है कि वह क्रूर आक्रमणकारी महमूद बेगड़ा से शादी करने का कोई इरादा ही नहीं रखती थी वह तो बस अपने पति द्वारा छोड़े गए अधूरे कार्य को पूरा करना चाहती थी।
दोस्तों बावड़ी की अद्भुत सुंदरता ही इसके बारे में शानदार व्याख्या ही नहीं करती है बल्कि दोस्तों इस बावड़ी की निर्माण की कहानी प्रेम , युद्ध , भक्ति और विश्वासघात से भरी पड़ी हुई है।
दोस्तों कुछ भी हो यह बावड़ी हमारे प्राचीन भारत के अद्भुत निर्माण शैली का उच्चतम धरोहर है जिसे हमें बचाए रखना चाहिए ताकि हमारी आने वाली पीढ़ियां इस अद्भुत वास्तु शिल्प व निर्माण कला को देख सके।

Friends, this stepwell of water in Ahmedabad, Gujarat or Rudabai stepwell is famous all over the world due to its ancient architectural craft and amazing beauty. Friends legend also has it that the invading Muslim ruler Mahmud Begada was fascinated by the form of Rani Rudabai of Raja Rana Veer Singh and took over the entire kingdom after Rana Veer Singh died in battle. And had proposed marriage in front of Rani Rudabai.
Friends, it is believed that Rani Rudabai knew that the evil invader was not going to leave them. So the queen played a trick as a result of which she agreed to marry the evil Mahmud Begada. Because Rani Rudabai was abandoned by the Maharaj. Unfinished business had to be completed. That is, the construction of the stepwell was to be completed. Which was lying unfinished after the death of Maharaja Rana Veer Singh.
Friends, it is said that the cruel ruler Mahmud Begada was so fascinated by the beauty of the queen that he even accepted the queen's majesty to complete the construction of the stepwell started by the queen by her husband.
So friends, this is the reason why the stepwell has been built in the famous Solanki style of architecture and the stepwell has been decorated with the idols of Hindu deities and Jains.
Where does friends go that after the completion of the construction work of the stepwell, Rani Rudabai had committed suicide by jumping into the deep well built inside the stepwell in memory of her husband Maharaj Rana Veer Singh. That is, friends, it is clear that she was the cruel invader Mahmud Begda. She had no intention of marrying him, she just wanted to complete the unfinished work left by her husband.
